About VHA

Vancouver Hebrew Academy is located in the Marpole neighbourhood of Vancouver, on West 62nd Avenue, half a block west of Granville Street (map). It is within easy commute of Richmond and is a short distance from the Vancouver Jewish Community Centre and other amenities.

Our Family, Our Future

Vancouver Hebrew Academy is a family comprised of its students, parents, educators, administrators and supporters. This notion of family informs everything we do, whether it is in communication between teachers and parents, promoting respect for the diversity of Jewish practice and customs within our school community, or in celebrating our own students’ achievements and those of Jews worldwide.

We believe that our success depends on understanding how our family works together to achieve our goal of preparing our students academically, socially and spiritually. We know that our children are our future and we must ensure that they are ready to take on the challenges of today-tomorrow-and beyond. We feel privileged to share in their journey.

Accreditation and Affiliations

Vancouver Hebrew Academy is fully accredited with the British Columbia Ministry of Education, a member of the Federation of Independent School Associations of British Columbia, and a member of Torah Umesorah, the National Society of Orthodox Jewish day schools. VHA is also a constituent agency of the Jewish Federation of Greater Vancouver.

Vancouver's Jewish Community

VHA prides itself on being a key part of the Orthodox Jewish community in Vancouver.  The greater Jewish community boasts many amenities, an Orthodox high school for girls (Shalhevet High School), kosher food outlets, and several synagogues and co-educational Jewish schools. A central hub is the Jewish Community Centre of Greater Vancouver, which houses a recreational complex, kosher restaurant, meeting spaces, theatre and dance facilities, Jewish library and two museums, the Vancouver Holocaust Education Centre and the Vancouver Jewish Museum and Archives.
